Cold Plasma Therapy

Cold atmospheric plasma is a next-generation modality that regenerates the skin barrier, neutralizes surface bacteria, and accelerates healing — excellent as a stand-alone treatment or paired with microneedling and lasers for enhanced recovery.

The science: Cold plasma is ionized gas at near-room temperature — a stream of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species generated by an electric field. These reactive species perform three biological jobs at once. (1) Antimicrobial: surface bacteria, viruses, and fungi are neutralized — including acne-causing C. acnes. (2) Barrier repair: keratinocytes are stimulated to rebuild the stratum corneum more quickly, restoring the protective lipid matrix. (3) Bio-stimulation: fibroblasts increase collagen production and microcirculation improves, leading to better skin tone and texture. All of this without heat, without ablation, and without any downtime.

Where we use it at Aurelia: as a stand-alone facial for acne and post-inflammatory pigmentation, for rosacea and reactive skin where almost nothing else is well tolerated, as the closer to a microneedling session to accelerate the barrier repair and reduce post-procedure redness, immediately after Fotona CO₂ laser to speed re-epithelialization, and in our scarring/scar revision protocols.

Who it suits in South Florida: Patients in North Miami, Aventura, Bal Harbour, Brickell, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and Palm Beach with active acne, rosacea, reactive sensitive skin, post-procedure recovery needs, or compromised skin barriers from over-exfoliation. Safe across all skin types and tones, including patients who cannot have laser or light-based treatments.

A session takes 30–45 minutes and feels like a gentle, slightly tingly breeze across the skin. Results are visible the same day — calmer, more even skin — and compound with a series of 4–6 sessions.
