Fotona CO₂ Laser

Fotona is a globally recognized manufacturer of medical laser systems. The CO₂ platform provides precise, customizable energy delivery for controlled skin resurfacing and deep remodeling — from superficial rejuvenation to deeper resurfacing.

The Fotona CO₂ laser works by emitting a 10,600 nm wavelength that is absorbed by water in the skin. We deliver the energy in a fractional pattern: thousands of microscopic columns of treated tissue surrounded by healthy intact skin. This triggers the wound-healing cascade — collagen and elastin remodel over 3–6 months — while the surrounding intact tissue lets you heal much faster than full-field ablative lasers. Treatment depth and density are fully tunable, so the same device gives a 'lunchtime resurfacing' refresh in one setting and a serious deep-acne-scar treatment in another.

What we treat with Fotona CO₂ at Aurelia: fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars (boxcar, ice-pick, rolling), surgical and traumatic scars, sun-damaged texture, enlarged pores, melasma and uneven pigmentation, perioral lines (smoker's lines), eyelid skin laxity, and overall skin tone. We also use it for benign skin lesion removal.

Best paired with strict sun protection — we usually schedule a treatment course in October–March to avoid Florida's intense summer UV during the healing window.

What to expect: 30–60 minute session, topical numbing applied for 30 minutes pre-treatment, mild warmth and tingling during. Recovery depends on the depth chosen — 2–5 days of redness and pinpoint scabbing for lighter settings, up to 7–10 days for deeper resurfacing. Many patients complete a 1–3 session course and then maintain annually.
